2014 marks the 11th year of Skoda as an official sponsor & vehicle supplier for Tour France- the 3rd biggest sporting event of the world which will commence from July 5 this year.
As a chief sponsor of Tour de France, the main responsibility of Skoda is to provide around 250 Skoda bikes for the premier riding race. Collectively, the Skoda fleet would drive nearly 2.8 mn km in the upcoming edition of Tour France.
Apart from Tour France, Skoda is an official bike supplier for Ring of Kerry Charity Cycle 2014 which would be commencing on the same day as that of Tour de France. Skoda’s deep commitment to cycling is a natural one as history says that the esteemed automaker first began its journey not by manufacturing 4-wheelers but with the creation of cycles only.
“Skoda maintains long-standing ties with riding”, stated Raymond Leddy, the Skoda Ireland’s chief of marketing & product. “In fact, when our firm originated over a century ago it was the bicycle manufacturing that it started with in the initial years”.
“Our dominant presence in the most prestigious riding event of the world duly strengthens our image & the long-term reputation that we have earned. In Ireland, around 14 thousand people would participate in the Skoda sponsored events. We are geared to bring in some unique experience for our riders at these cycling events.”
